A doubly special day

Today, August 19, is a special day, a doubly special day. It’s the World Photography Day and the World Humanitarian Aid Day. This is an opportunity for me to come back to my job: humanitarian photographer.

2012 : Haïti

In January 2010, precisely on January 12, 2010 at 4:53 p.m., an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 to 7.3 occurred in Port-au-Prince and its region. The consequences were disastrous: several hundred thousand dead and more than a million homeless. Humanitarian aid was put in place in the days that followed and for several years. At the end of 2012, I went to Port-au-Prince to document three years of humanitarian action by the French Red Cross.

2014 : Guinée Conakry

In 2014 the Ebola virus appeared for the first time in West Africa and more precisely in the forest zone of Guinea Conakry. In November, the French Red Cross opens an Ebola treatment center (ETC) in Macenta. Leaving for a 10-week emergency mission, I stayed almost a year in Guinea, Macenta, Conakry and Forecariah.

2019 : Comoros

In 2019, I intervene to support the volunteers of the Comorian Red Crescent in a mission to assess the health system of the archipelago. But the passage of Cyclone Kenneth over the country led me to document the damage caused and the humanitarian response to assess and support the population.
