The programme of the Mois de la Photo du Grand Paris — the first of its name, but heir to the Mois de la Photo — runs throughout April 2017 with a stunning line-up.

Indeed, this year the Mois de la Photo offers 96 exhibitions, spread across 32 towns around the French capital. Hard to find your way through, so I've put together a small — very small — selection of 5 not-to-miss exhibitions!

And of course you'll have plenty of time to see the other 91!

1. Bains Publics

Public baths: two approaches. Florence Levillain photographs the users, letting them reclaim their own image and unsettling our certainties about the iconography of precariousness. Laurent Kruszyk brings the precise photographer's eye of the Heritage and Inventory department of the Île-de-France Region.

2. Le Royaume

Setting off to discover a small kingdom in Vermont, USA, the renowned portraitist Stéphane Lavoué plunges us into a fascinating universe.

"I arrived there by chance, one evening, following the winding curves of the muddy, battered ridge road linking the farms of West Burke to Sutton. It wasn't until early morning that I discovered it: sitting at a diner counter, the waitress bringing me a steaming mug of coffee greeted me with: Welcome to The North East Kingdom of Vermont. I had unlawfully entered royal territory; I decided to undertake the journey that would take me to its furthest reaches."
