AGO Film Processor — Vintage Visual automates the Paterson tank
« Vintage Visual ships a programmable agitation device for Paterson tanks: agitation, timing and temperature compensation are automated, with ready-made B&W and colour presets. »

The AGO Film Processor has been getting home developers talking since launch. Vintage Visual, a European analog-focused workshop, has built the programmable agitation device that many were waiting for to pair with their Paterson tanks.
What it is
A compact module (170 × 136 × 88 mm, 556 g) powered by two rechargeable 18650 batteries that takes on the mechanical side of development: agitating the tank on a program, holding the timing, and compensating for temperature. Drop the Paterson tank on the cradle, pick a preset, hit start.
Three things it really does well
Programmable agitation — direction, duration, frequency, with a disabled mode for vertical stand development. Considerably more flexible than what a mechanical timer used to allow.
Temperature compensation — the device measures chemistry temperature continuously and adjusts development time on the fly. One of the historical friction points of home development simply disappears.
Ready-made presets — provided for Bellini, CineStill and Rollei kits, in both B&W and colour. You can also create your own processes from a computer or phone, over Wi-Fi.
Compatibility and formats
Paterson tanks, formats from 35 mm to 8×10. B&W and colour (C-41 and ECN-2 depending on kits). USB-C and Wi-Fi for preset updates. Two-year manufacturer warranty.
The detail that draws complaints
For the chemistry to flow properly through a horizontally oriented tank, you need to drill three 13 mm holes into the Paterson funnel. Irreversible. Something to anticipate if you want to keep your tank usable for manual development — otherwise, keep a second one uncut on the side.
Who is it for?
The home developer who wants to industrialise their workflow without giving up agency: same tank, same chemicals, same pace. You gain repeatability (temperature, agitation) and peace of mind — a real return on investment around your tenth roll.
Not for those who develop one roll a month and savour the manual ritual — the AGO is designed for people doing ten.
