More about the World Press Photo Foundation
World Press Photo is an independent organisation founded in 1955 and based in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. World Press Photo is recognised for its annual press-photography contest. Its purpose is to stimulate and support the development of photojournalism, to encourage the sharing of knowledge in the field, and to promote the free and unrestricted exchange of information. The organisation operates internationally — it runs many events around the world, including conferences, workshops, and, once a year, the "Joop Swart Masterclass." It is best known for running a prestigious annual photojournalism contest each year, with many categories alongside the "World Press Photo of the Year."
