LightyShare

"Uberisation" of society or sharing economy — make up your own mind. LightyShare is a peer-to-peer rental platform for audiovisual equipment.
Our aim is to offer creatives a simple, secure way to access a full, professional catalogue of audiovisual equipment. We want to make creation easier! That's what Jonathan Elalouf said when the platform moved from private to public beta in November 2016. LightyShare's promise is therefore to simplify renting between individuals or professionals by providing secure payment and insurance services for the rented equipment. The platform's 15% service fee notably covers the insurance costs the platform includes with every rental. The insurance is fairly standard — the contract is available on the site, under the "legal notice" section. The main points to note are territorial coverage of "Metropolitan France & Corsica" only, and the deductible amounts:
- Option 1 – For a guarantee amount up to €5,000: 10% deductible on the declared equipment value, with a minimum of €80.
- Option 2 – For a guarantee amount between €5,000 and €10,000: 10% deductible on the declared equipment value, with a minimum of €500 and a maximum of €800.
- Option 3 – For a guarantee amount above €10,000: the maximum deductible is €800.
On the compensation side, again quite standard, with a depreciation formula and procedures for expert appraisal in case of disputes over the amount of damages. For now the platform, in public beta, covers only Paris and its region. Signing up and listing are free — only service fees are charged on bookings you confirm.
