Lightroom Classic version 8.4 (not to be confused with the online version) brings a batch of interesting new features.

Three new features are worth noting in the August release of Lightroom.

PNG export

Lightroom (finally) offers the ability to export catalogue images in PNG format. Very useful for working on exports intended for the web, the availability of this export format will make it possible to skip a conversion step in Photoshop, for example.

Dynamic collection by colour

One of Lightroom's flagship features is the ability to create dynamic collections to optimise your processing workflow. Until now it was possible to create dynamic collections based on text tags or image ratings; now it's also possible to do so based on the "colour" tags assigned to images.

An ideal feature for tracking the different stages of retouching.

Hardware optimisation

Until now, compatible video cards allowed Lightroom to improve display speed and image refresh rate when making corrections in the Develop module.

Now they are also put to work for the calculations performed by the tools.

In Auto mode, if the graphics card supports it, acceleration is complete (display and processing); if it is partial, only the display is affected.
