What if the new Minister of Culture, Françoise Nyssen, turned out to be the photographers' minister?!

Before becoming Minister of Culture, Françoise Nyssen was the president of the publishing house "Actes Sud" as well as a member of the board of the Rencontres de la Photographie d'Arles. Let's hope she doesn't forget her roots and champions the cause of photography and photographers during her time in office.

Biography of Françoise Nyssen

  • Born 9 June 1951 in Brussels

  • Secondary-school teaching qualification (agrégation), degree in chemistry, graduate of the Higher Institute of Urban Planning and Urban Renewal (Belgium)
  • Member of the Architecture Division of the Belgian Ministry of Environment and Living Environment
  • Partner and Chair & CEO of the Paradou publishing cooperative
  • Partner and Chair of the Executive Board of the publishing house Actes Sud, and co-founder of the Actes Sud bookshop
  • Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year (1991)
  • Officer of the Legion of Honour, Commander of the National Order of Merit, and Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters
