The Salon de la Photo 2016 opens its doors for its 10th edition on Thursday 10 November in Paris, at the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre.

Over the years the meeting place of choice for photographers and brands, the Salon de la Photo is now the eagerly awaited event for an impressive number of passionate amateurs and professionals eager to meet or reunite — at a time when the act of taking a photograph has never been more widespread, whether with a camera specifically designed for that purpose or with a device for which it is only one of the features.

The Paris Salon de la Photo has become France's meeting place for everything that makes photography — for everyone who practices it!

The Salon de la Photo 2016

Gone is the very fashion-forward poster (already in 2015 the poster was no longer fashion-oriented) — make way for a very family-friendly one. It no doubt sets the tone for this 2016 edition: a more "amateur" show (nothing pejorative about that), more mainstream, geared towards a democratised photography accessible to as many people as possible. Beyond the traditional commercial exhibitors, the show adds more and more events, talks and exhibitions each year. We've picked a few for this 2016 edition:

  • Film space: In 2016, the Salon de la Photo puts film photography in the spotlight, in partnership with Dans Ta Cuve. The recent revival of interest in film no longer needs proving. The Salon de la Photo therefore brings this development practice to the fore, giving it a dedicated space for the first time.
  • Photojournalism : In collaboration with the Centre International du Photojournalisme, the Salon de la Photo hosts in 2016 the exhibition "On the restless shores of the Caspian Sea" by Stanley Greene.
  • Raymond Depardon, La Ferme du Garet: In the book La Ferme du Garet, published by Éditions Carré in 1995 and reprinted by Actes Sud in 2003, Raymond Depardon tells us about his childhood and his awakening to photography.
