Photographer Andreas Franke has made a habit of showing his work underwater — an unusual exhibition venue, but in keeping with his photographic practice, which is also underwater.

Andreas Franke: four underwater exhibitions

Andreas Franke's dreamlike photographs can be seen across four projects — but for three of them you'll need strong lungs and fins, or better yet, a scuba tank and a wetsuit. The projects Stavronikita, Mohawk and Vandenberg (launched yesterday) are shown on the decks of sunken ships. These wrecks lie off Key West, Florida.

The Phantasy Fairtales project, by contrast, can be admired at the Huvafen Fushi resort in the Maldives while staying dry, as this hotel's rooms are partially submerged and open onto the ocean floor through large picture windows.

Enough of the chit-chat — let's get to the images. And you can enjoy them without getting wet. But if the mood takes you, go fetch a bucket and dip your feet in!
