German photographer Astrid Kirchherr died on May 12, 2020 in Hamburg (Germany). She was 81 years old.
This German, born in Hamburg on May 20, 1938, is best known for her images of the Beatles at the very beginning of their career in the 60s. Then aged 22, she met the group during a tour in Germany. She took many shots of the group which had not yet enjoyed international success. It still had five members at that time, in addition to John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison, also Pete Best and bassist Stuart Sutcliffe.

The latter fell in love with Astrid Kirchherr. The photographer then lived mainly for the reproduction rights of these photos.
