Small country in Southeast Asia, Laos is facing multiple humanitarian issues. Access to health, hygiene or disaster risk reduction are just a few. The Lao Red Cross, together with partners such as the French Red Cross or the Swiss Red Cross, responds to these challenges. For a reportage in 2010, I traveled south of Laos with the Lao Red Cross teams to meet the beneficiaries of the Health Equity Fund, supported by the Swiss Red Cross, and those supported by the French Red Cross to reduce the risk of flooding related to hydroelectric development.
