Playboy France: the rabbit will wake up

Without a photographer this rabbit cannot exist! Sleeping in France since 2011, Playboy will reappear from December 8.

If there is a title in which the photo has its place, a very special photo, I agree it is the iconic Playboy. Created in 1953 by Hugh Hefner, The first playmate was Marilyn Monroe.

In France, Playboy arrived 20 years later, in 1973.

Playboy, a French story

The release of the French version of Playboy is not a long calm river, the editors, the periodicity and the content evolve frequently. In 1985, the magazine changed publisher and restarted its numbering. In 1989, only a few issues appeared with the mention “Special Edition”.

Since April 2000, a new series from the French edition of Playboy has been published by the 1633 Group (which also publishes the magazines Rolling Stone, FHM and Newlook). From 2009, its periodicity is bimonthly and its issues are thematic. The last issue dates from January 2011 and since the French edition of Playboy is dormant.

But things are about to change …

A new “sassy but elegant” version

There is a place for a new premium masculine, sassy but elegant, who also speaks to women. […] No frontal nudity, it will be fashion.

David Swaelens-Kane

This is what David Swaelens-Kane, the Belgian entrepreneur who bought the brand with his partner Monika Bacardi, said for AFP for an amount estimated between 2 and 4 million euros. The couple already took over the French magazine Photo in 2014. The chief editor of the new magazine is entrusted to the journalist and musician Guillaume Fédou and the former chief editor of Technikart Raphaël Turcat. Like the American formula, this Playboy 2016 will be “less erotic, more fashion”.

The French model Myrtille Revemont should make the front page of this new version.
