Hurricane Irma was the strongest recorded in the North Atlantic by the speed of sustained winds (287 km/h). On September 5, 2017 he is ranked “Category 5” on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

On behalf of the French Red Cross we are deployed on Guadeloupe then quickly on the island of St Martin. There, teams conduct assessments and emergency operations to facilitate airlift evacuation and access to basic necessities.
