The Indonesian Red Cross, more often known as PMI (Palang Merah Indonesia), is taking care of hundreds millions of Indonesians spread over thousands of islands that make up the country.

Since the 2004 tsunami, that killed many people, the PMI, with the support of many national societies of the Red Cross, focused its efforts on reducing disaster risk. The PMI is also involved in social activities and first aid.
